Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in Copiague last night. A man was walking northbound across Montauk Highway, when he was struck by a westbound gray sedan at 8:44 p.m. The driver then fled the scene, continuing westbound on Montauk Highway. The man, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6553 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
