BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - Local Representatives Trey Wharton and Paul Dyson said they hadn’t been part of any discussions about plans at the state level to help people keep food on their tables as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) remains halted, but that doesn’t mean those conversations weren’t happening.
“We haven’t met as a Republican caucus or anything, especially on the House side as a whole. Not to say that there’s not some leadership members and certain committee members that may be looking at this already to see what they’re able to do,” said Representative Paul Dyson.
Because nearly 33,000 Brazos Valley residents rely on SNAP for food, Rep. Wharton said it would ultimately be up to individual communities to help those in need.
