GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WITN) - Congressman Don Davis is set to speak about the ongoing government shutdown and his proposed bill looking to ban redistricting mid-decade.

Rep. Davis will hold a press conference at his Goldsboro office this afternoon to discuss the now longest shutdown in U.S. history, which began on October 1st.

Davis is set to talk about the impacts the shutdown has had on eastern North Carolina’s farmers, military families and SNAP recipients.

Davis will also discuss his newly introduced piece of legislation, H.R. 5837 , known as the Restoring Electoral Stability to Enhance Trust (RESET) Act of 2025.

The legislation was introduced last week, and it looks to limit states from redistricting after a decennial census and apportionment of Representatives.
