A 'deeply alarming childlike sex doll' found dumped in the woods was initially thought to be human remains.

The doll, wrapped in a plastic bag, was spotted by members of the public who contacted police thinking it was a child's body.

Police launched a major investigation after receiving reports of the find in the Awliscombe area near Honiton in Devon on Saturday, October 18, DevonLive reports.

A major investigation was launched and a cordon and road closures were put in place.

After the discovery was taken to a sterile location to be examined it was determined to be an "incredibly lifelike, fully weighted childlike sex doll".
