The film’s characters want answers about what happened, why it happened, and where the children went. So does the audience. When we get those answers, though, they come with literal showers of blood. That’s where special makeup effects designer Jason Collins comes in. The founder and owner of Autonomous FX has credits going back to the 1990s. Most recently, he’s worked on shows ranging from Yellowjackets to Veep to Euphoria to Westworld, but he says Weapons took him back to “my early horror days” — especially the part where he wound up spraying kids with actual fire extinguishers full of compressed fake blood.
