SWAIN COUNTY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said it is assisting Swain County deputies in a multi-county search.

Officials said the shooting took place on Hyatt Creek near the intersection of Walker Woody Road. The suspect’s vehicle was later found in Jackson County.

Jackson County deputies said two homes were searched and the suspect was not located. They are not sure if the suspect is still in the area.

The suspect has been identified as 23-year-old Luis Alfredo Reynosa.

Due to law enforcement activity, Swain County Schools said classes are remote for Swain East Elementary School.
