MONTGOMERY, Ala. ( WSFA ) - Gov. Kay Ivey joined state and local leaders in Wilcox County to celebrate the Alabama Middle-Mile Fiber Network’s progress in reaching all of Alabama’s 67 counties.
There are Alabama Fiber Network lines that are continuing to be constructed.
The event, which was held in Gov. Ivey’s hometown of Camden, also marked the symbolic milestone of project construction crossing the Alabama River and into the city.
“It’s good to be home and to make this announcement that culminates the 8 years of efforts that’s been going on,” said Gov. Ivey.
In one of the last major milestones for the project, construction for better internet access made its way across the J. Lee Long Bridge on Alabama Highway 29 in Wilcox County.
The plan has been funded by both federal and state
