Dallas Cowboys edge rusher Marshawn Kneeland has passed away at the age of 24.
His team confirmed the news in a statement on Thursday.
“It is with extreme sadness that the Dallas Cowboys share that Marshawn Kneeland tragically passed away this morning,” the team said in a brief statement.
“Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organization. Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family.”
Kneeland was a second-round pick by the Cowboys in 2024 after a strong college career with Western Michigan.
He picked up 26 tackles and one sack in 18 regular-season games with the team.
On Monday night, Kneeland recovered a blocked punt and scored his first-ever touchdown against the Cardinals.
