LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - The inaugural season of KCBD’s “Thursday Night Throwdown” wraps up tonight with two teams playing for a postseason berth when the Monterey Plainsmen host the Longhorns from Amarillo Caprock. With one available playoff spot remaining, the winner will extend their season next week with a long trip to El Paso. The losing team will hang up their helmets.
Monterey has already faced elite competition ranging from Choctaw, Okla. to El Paso. Its spread offense is already coming into form with quarterback Jonah Reed (25 TD’s), WR Cam Taylor (12 TDs), and WR Quarren Boyd (10 TD’s). RB’s Darron Moore and Legin Williams have complemented the receivers with 13 combined rushing scores.
