SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Sumter County deputies say a high school student was found with a bb gun on a school’s campus.
Deputies say a Lakewood High School student was found in possession of a bb gun while attempting to enter the school on Monday morning, November 3.
The bb gun was found when the 16-year-old student’s book bag triggered the school’s metal detectors while passing through them at the front entrance.
That then triggered officials to do an inspection of the bag which the bb gun was found in.
The student was detained by Sumter County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer and later released to a parent.
SCSO says the case will be petitioned to Sumter County Family Court.
“We do not know the student’s motive for attempting to bring a gun to school, but we do know it w
