COLUMBIA, Tenn. (WSMV) - The City of Columbia is installing twelve safety sirens across the city to alert the public about severe weather and other emergencies.

Three of the sirens will have audible alarms and voice capabilities.

Nine other sirens will be equipped to deliver loud audible alerts.

City leaders praised the system as a way to send mass notifications during significant emergencies.

“This new system represents an important step forward in protecting our residents and ensuring we are prepared for any emergency. It’s another example of how we continue to invest in the safety and well-being of our community,” Mayor Chaz Molder said.
