Armed police have swooped on Reading College after a boy was injured in a suspected attack.

A manhunt is ongoing for the suspect with armed police and ambulances scrambled to the college around 2pm on Thursday.

Reading College is currently in lockdown with police advising people to stay away from the area.

Suzanne, who managed to get out of the college grounds, told the Reading Chronicle: ‘There was a problem with a student and all the students were lying on the floor.

‘The campus was in lockdown and all of the kids were in lockdown.’

She added people were gradually being let out of the building.

A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said: ‘We are aware of an assault with injury in Kings Road, Reading.

‘A boy has sustained injuries and is receiving medical treatment.
