The debris field left behind after a UPS plane crashed in Kentucky on Tuesday is larger than originally thought.
A UPS plane departing from Louisville and headed for Honolulu, Hawaii, crashed as it was taking off on Tuesday. As of Wednesday afternoon, there are at least 12 people dead and more than a dozen missing.
There was a fiery explosion after the crash , spreading debris across the surrounding area.
The National Transportation Safety Board confirmed on Wednesday the area spans between a 1/2 and 3/4 of a mile.
Crews are still at the scene surveying the damage.
Louisville's Metro Emergency Services said it is still trying to figure out how many acres of land were burned from the crash. It says it could be a few days before that information becomes available.
