LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - The City of Lynchburg will begin a comprehensive and community-driven search for a new police chief at the Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) , the city said .

The city will work with Raftelis , a recruitment and consulting firm with experience in searching for local governments and public safety agencies nationwide, according to the city.

Raftelis will embark on a “transparent” and “broad” search process that will also include an opportunity for the community to weigh in; the city will host a community input session on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. in the Heritage High School Auditorium.

An online survey will also be available in mid-November for community members who are unable to attend in-person.
