Unionized Starbucks baristas, including at a recently organized Des Moines store , voted to authorize an open-ended strike ahead of Starbucks' high-traffic holiday season, Starbucks Workers United has announced.
The union said Wednesday, Nov. 5, that workers are prepared to strike if a contract is not finalized by Nov. 13, which is the day of the company's popular annual Red Cup Day giveaway. It said strike actions could hit more than 25 cities and escalate if there is a lack of progress.
Each side has blamed the other for ending talks late last year. They say they are ready to return to discussions.
