WYTHE COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - Wythe County Community Hospital is officially rolling out a robotic surgery program to better serve surgeons and their patients.

Having a robot in the hospital room is a first for the rural hospital, but it’s state-of-the-art technology that allows patients in the area get care right in their hometown.

The Mako doesn’t have steady fingers or a brain that’s been through over a decade of education, but Dr. Bruce Byrd said having the robot by his side during surgery is a game changer.
