Proposition 409, which would grant about $900 million in bonds to the region's public health agency, saw its results widen as more votes were counted.

The measure was being approved by 51.2% of voters, according to results Thursday morning from the Maricopa County Recorder's Office, with 307,157 votes cast for the measure compared with 292,753 against.

A final count is expected later this week or early next week.

The proposition, promoted by Valleywise Health, would use bonds paid for through property taxes to expand services across the county.
