With the Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council elections approaching, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has intensified its preparations and announced that it will contest the polls independently, ending its alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The regional party has decided to field candidates in all 32 constituencies of the Council.
As part of its campaign efforts, AGP held a workers’ meeting on Wednesday at the Khowang Sonowal Bhawan in Dibrugarh district.
The meeting was attended by AGP Central Committee Vice President and Chief Convenor of the Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council Election Committee, Putul Sonowal, AGP Central Secretaries Sunil Rajkhowa and Parag Jyoti Barua, along with several district and regional leaders and party workers.
