The Coweta County Board of Commissioners set noise regulations for the county at its Tuesday night meeting.
A noise ordinance has been requested by residents several times over the years, according to County Administrator Michael Fouts.
With the new ordinance, it will be illegal to make, cause or allow any noise that is plainly audible inside another dwelling between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.
The same restriction will apply to outdoor recreation areas.
There are exemptions in the ordinance, such as firearms, church bells, organized sports league practices and events, school activities, public safety vehicles, fire and security alarms, parades, traffic and residential air-conditioning units.
If a property has a zoning condition, it will take precedence over the ordinance.
