Voters across the Midlands cast ballots Tuesday in a series of municipal elections, deciding mayoral and council races in large and small communities. Preliminary results show several close contests, but it's important to note that vote counting is still underway and totals are still considered unofficial. Multiple races appear bound for runoffs, which will be held later this month.

Batesburg-Leesville

Mayor : This race is headed into a runoff election between David Bouknight (480 votes) and Stephen Cain (331 votes). The race is to be held on Nov. 18.

Town Council District 1 : Bo Turner (98 votes)

Town Council District 3 : Incumbent candidate Stephen Cain has won with 76 votes.

Town Council District 5 : Cathe Knox (52 votes)

Town Council District 7 : Joe Montgomery (115 votes)
