IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - Students at the University of Iowa have been displaced after a fire started at Daum Residence Hall.
The Iowa City Fire Department responded to the hall on North Clinton Street at 3:30 a.m. Thursday.
Firefighters found that a small fire had started in an unoccupied room. The sprinkler system kept the fire from spreading from the room, but the sprinkler system caused water damage to the first and second floors of the hall.
Most of the students were evacuated before fire crew arrived. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is being investigated. It is unclear how many students are affected. The University’s website lists 344 students in the residence hall.
