Auburn Hills — An Auburn Hills city councilman-elect who served almost three decades on the city's planning commission died Tuesday shortly after his election, city officials said Thursday.
Greg Ouellette, who won the fourth-most votes in a field of six candidates to make it onto council, died "shortly after the polls closed," according to a city news release. Four spots were open on the council, and Ouelette got 15% of the vote, joining Eugene Hawkins III (20,8%), Jack D. Ferguson (20.6%) and Ron Moniz (19.7%), according to the Oakland County clerk's unofficial results.
City council members will soon announce how a new councilor will be selected following Ouellette's death, according to the release.
