JANESVILLE, Wis. (WTVO) — Koty Diaz, 33, has been found guilty and sentenced to 16 years of killing a man and his fiancée in a drunk driving crash in Janesville in August 2024.
According to the Rock County District Attorney's Office, Diaz left a bar drunk on the night of August 17th, 2024, driving over the grass and a curb before heading down Beloit Avenue at a high rate of speed.
Diaz then failed to stop at a stoplight and hit a Pontiac G6 traveling on Delavan Drive, forcing both vehicles into a field.
The Rock County Medical Examiner identified the deceased as Wayne Caswell, 30, of Janesville, and Gretchen Walbaum, 52, of Elkhorn.
Diaz failed field sobriety tests, police said, with a blood-alcohol level of .102. He had also been previously arrested for Operating Under the Influence o
