VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - As the ongoing federal government shutdown strains families across South Georgia, the Greater Valdosta United Way (GVUW) is taking decisive action to keep food on tables and support within reach.

In response to a surge in requests for help, GVUW has distributed $15,000 in emergency food assistance to local nonprofits serving residents in eight of its eleven counties. The aid ensures access to food, shelter, and other essential needs for families and seniors hit hardest by the shutdown.
