The Fort Oglethorpe Police Department is working to launch the agency’s new K-9 unit.
The agency said on Facebook that it has partnered with the Hurricane Creek K9 Foundation, which provides and trains dogs for law enforcement agencies, to make the new unit happen.
"Our goal is to welcome two K-9 officers to our team in the coming months. These highly trained dogs will be invaluable in keeping our community safe and in building stronger connections with the citizens we proudly serve,” the post said.
Fort Oglethorpe police say any help from the community will go to directly to making the K-9 unit a success.
