LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - As the government shutdown enters day 37, a Lexington priest is donating meals to federal workers at Blue Grass Airport who continue working without pay.
Father Jim Sichko, Papal Missionary of Mercy for Pope Leo, delivered breakfast and lunch Thursday to several airport workers affected by the ongoing shutdown.
“I have sausages, sandwiches, biscuits, anything that could feed them and help them,” Sichko said.
Priest feels compelled to help
The priest said he felt compelled to help during what he sees as an opportunity to give back, especially as countless federal workers across the country go without paychecks. Airport staff in Kentucky are among those affected.
