A man was killed and another injured after a garbage truck overturned and caught fire on Long Island.

The crash happened around 11:50 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, on the eastbound Sunrise Highway Service Road in East Islip, near the Southern State Parkway exit, police said.

Images shared by LI Fire Buff on Facebook showed the truck flipped on its side and engulfed in flames.

The driver of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene, a Suffolk County Police spokesperson confirmed to Daily Voice. A passenger was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The victims' identities had not been released as of Thursday evening.

The wreck occurred on the loop ramp connecting Sunrise Highway to the Heckscher State Parkway. The eastbound service road was closed at Exit 44 for several hours following the incident.
