BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) — An APD officer is dead after deputies showed up to arrest him on domestic violence charges. According to the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office, it's believed he turned a gun on himself.

On Wednesday, Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office deputies arrived at a home in Cedar Crest to serve a warrant on an Albuquerque police officer for charges including kidnapping, rape, and child abuse, among others. BCSO says they tried to get the suspect to exit the house. Shortly after midnight on Thursday, deputies went inside to find a man dead. He appeared to have a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to BCSO.
