The Manitoba government will spend more than $175 million over the next five years through an incentive program to build rental housing.

“Our government is helping more Manitobans get onto the housing ladder and take that first step toward stability and opportunity,” Premier Wab Kinew said in a news release Thursday.

“For too long, affordable rentals have been out of reach for working families and seniors. By creating this incentive, we’re unlocking new housing supply and making sure every Manitoban has a fair shot at a safe, affordable place to call home.”

Kinew and Housing, Addictions and Homelessness Minister Bernadette Smith held a news conference in Sage Creek on Thursday morning.
