SEELEY LAKE, Mont. – A pair of hunters said they shot and possibly killed two grizzly bears after the bears charged at them while on a trail east of Seeley Lake, according to Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.
The hunters told Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks the encounter happened while they were hiking on Pyramid Pass Trail to retrieve a mule deer buck they harvested earlier that morning.
When the hunters were about two miles from the Pyramid Pass Trailhead, they saw three grizzly bears about 100 yards away running towards them.
The hunters told Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks they yelled at the bears and waved their arms, but the grizzly bears kept running at them without slowing down.
Then one of the hunters shot at the grizzly bears and possibly killed two of them, they reported.
