EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — After reaching the World Series this past season, Don Mattingly has informed the Toronto Blue Jays he won't return next season.
Mattingly has served as a bench coach for the team for the past three seasons, including being part of the American League Champions in 2025 and reaching the World Series for the first time as either a player, manager, or coach.
Mattingly is in New York City, where he will accept the Rawlings "Heart of Gold Award" at the annual Rawlings Gold Gloves Award ceremony on November 7th for Mattingly Charities.
Mattingly said he enjoyed working alongside Blue Jays manager John Schneider for the past three seasons. He said he "is unsure of his immediate baseball future but definitely wants to remain in the game he loves so much," in a statement
