HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A driver was detained Thursday after running out of gas during a chase involving multiple law enforcement agencies, according to authorities.

According to the Webster Police Department, the suspect was identified as 38-year-old Jasmere Washington.

Webster PD detectives, along with officers from Galveston PD and Texas City PD, responded to a chase that began as a traffic stop at noon, according to law enforcement.

Galveston PD said that the chase began on 73rd Street after officers attempted to stop Washington in a red Mitsubishi, who reportedly has multiple felony warrants. Police said that once the chase moved off the island, GPD units stopped following Washington, and DPS troopers took the lead.
