CHICAGO — Chicago police union president John Catanzara faced a mutiny by opponents who claimed he misused money; but an internal investigation has cleared him of wrongdoing, several sources tell WGN Investigates.
"City Hall and [police] headquarters are going to have to wait a little longer to get their way," Catanzara quipped to WGN Investigates.
Catanzara temporarily stepped aside from his post on the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police board during the investigation even though the allegations of wrong-doing came from F.O.P. Lodge 7, which represents rank and file Chicago police officers.
Catanzara previously called the probe a "witch hunt."
Records reviewed by WGN Investigates show unspecified allegations were made against Catanzara by another member of the state lodge's board. A s
