CINCINNATI (WXIX) - More than 1.4 million Ohioans face food benefit cuts the week of Nov. 6 due to the government shutdown, according to Gov. Mike DeWine’s office.
Since the U.S. Department of Agriculture is now partially funding SNAP during the shutdown, the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services has to recalculate monthly amounts for each household.
This means SNAP recipients will not get their benefits until the review is done.
“Once that review is complete, ODJFS will notify SNAP recipients regarding when they will receive their partial November benefits and the recalculated amount under the new federal guidance,” ODJFS wrote in a news release.
As of now, there is no timeline of when that review will be done.
