MINNEAPOLIS — The grace period is history.

Starting tomorrow, drivers who are caught speeding on safety cameras in Minneapolis won't get warnings, they'll get actual citations for driving 10 mph or more over the speed limit.

The cameras, installed at five problematic intersections known for excessive speed, have been operational for one month, and according to initial data, they appear to be making a difference.

Program organizers say the positive results are largely due to prominent signage posted at the monitored intersections, and initial warnings and publicity that accompanied the launch of the safety cameras.
