BELLE PLAINE, Iowa —

Zach Lahn, a sixth-generation Iowan who farms, teaches, and runs a business, announced his campaign for Iowa governor at his family farm near Belle Plaine.

Lahn says his "Iowa First" agenda centers on strengthening rural communities, protecting locally owned land, improving health outcomes, supporting families and "defending the unborn."

Lahn views himself as a self-funded outsider and vows to take on big agriculture and big pharmaceutical companies.

“The people who built Iowa are being pushed aside by greed and corruption,” Lahn wrote in a campaign announcement. “When I’m governor, we’ll sue them, break up their monopolies, and make them answer for what they’ve done to Iowa.”
