LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Nebraska freshman quarterback TJ Lateef will make his first career start on Saturday when the Huskers play at UCLA.
Lateef replaces Dylan Raiola, who suffered a broken leg in the Huskers’ 21-17 loss to USC. Lateef finished the game, completing 5-of-7 pass attempts. It was his third appearance of the season.
Lateef is a dual-threat QB that has “elite arm talent,” according to third-year head coach Matt Rhule.
“We are excited for TJ,” Rhule said. “There’s a focus around making sure everyone does their job at a high level.”
Rhule shared that Heisman Trophy winner Eric Crouch attended Nebraska’s practice on Thursday morning. He shared an encouraging message with the young QB.
“He was like, ‘Let it rip, man!’” Rhule said.
Nebraska heads to UCLA with a 6-3 record. Th
