NORFOLK, Va. — The wait is over. Norfolk’s temporary casino has officially opened its doors, meeting its November timeline to get a site up and running.

Inside the large white tent along Park Avenue — right across from Harbor Park and near the light rail station — visitors will find what looks and feels like a real casino. That's because it is.

“It’s modest because of the size of it, and I know people see the tent on the outside, but when you come inside, it looks just like a casino, because it is,” said Ron Bailey, Vice President and General Manager of Boyd Gaming.

The site marks a major milestone in a project that’s been in the works since 2020 through a partnership between the Pamunkey Indian Tribe and Boyd Gaming.
