A 42-year-old man is behind bars after police said he engaged in inappropriate contact with a minor in Virginia.
Maurice Rashard Cavers was arrested on Tuesday, Nov. 4, following an investigation that began in September, according to the Prince William County Police Department.
Investigators said that on Sept. 9, a girl between 15 and 17 years old was walking near Richmond Highway and River Heritage Boulevard in Woodbridge when a man stopped his car and offered her a ride.
Police said the two later exchanged phone numbers, and over the next month, Cavers “engaged in inappropriate messages and physical acts on more than one occasion during arranged meetings” with the teen.
Detectives identified Cavers as the suspect and took him into custody earlier this week.
Cavers was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and use of electronic means to solicit a minor, authorities said.
He’s being held without bond, and his court date is pending, according to police.
