OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A 17-year-old was arrested and a stolen vehicle was recovered after a pursuit in Omaha on Wednesday morning, according to the Nebraska State Patrol.

At about 11:25 a.m., a trooper saw a Jeep Cherokee, which had been reported stolen. They initiated a traffic stop of the car near 30th and Ames Avenue, but the driver fled out of a nearby parking lot, NSP reports.

After several blocks, the driver abandoned the car and fled on foot before he was taken into custody. NSP stated the driver was taken to the Douglas County Youth Center for theft by unlawful taking greater than $5,000, flight to avoid arrest, obstruction, possession of marijuana, and no operator’s license.

The teen also had several warrants out of Sarpy County.
