A six-year-old boy was allegedly bitten by a pet dog, a German Shepherd, in a housing society in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, the second such case reported in the city in less than six months.

While Ramol Police on Thursday booked the dog’s owner based on the complaint filed by the father of the child, the Cattle Nuisance Control Department (CNCD) of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation impounded the dog and sent it to a dog shelter.

The German Shepherd dog owned by Papaben alias Sangeeta Palaniswami Vaniyar, residing at Sharanam Elegance in New Maninagar area, allegedly attacked two children on Wednesday afternoon. German Shepherd dogs are the second highest among the total 18,776 dogs registered in Ahmedabad after Labradors.
