COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) -A local Jamaican restaurant is collecting donations for those impacted by Hurricane Melissa’s devastation in Jamaica.

Tati’s Island Cuisine has launched a hurricane disaster relief donation drive, accepting essential items such as canned goods, toiletries, clothing and baby supplies. The donations will be shipped to Jamaica in barrels on a monthly basis.

The drive comes nearly two weeks after Hurricane Melissa tore through parts of Jamaica, leaving widespread destruction. Sasha Simpson, the owner of Tati’s Island Cuisine, has family on the island.

“The impact is very heartbreaking,” she said.
