NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Multiple airports will be reducing their flight volumes as the government shutdown continues to put a strain on air travel, but the Nashville International Airport (BNA) is not one of them.

Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy and Federal Aviation Administrator Bryan Bedford announced on Wednesday that due to a severe shortage of air traffic controllers, flights at 40 airports will be reduced by 10%.

The cutbacks stand to impact thousands of flights nationwide because the FAA directs more than 44,000 flights daily, including commercial passenger flights, cargo planes and private aircraft.
