RALEIGH, N.C. (WITN) - Governor Josh Stein met with Medicaid patients and providers today, calling for the state General Assembly to reconvene on November 17th to fund Medicaid.
According to a news release, Medicaid covers more than three million North Carolinians. While healthcare insurance costs continue to rise, the state’s Medicaid costs have grown the least.
“The stories shared today make it crystal clear that Medicaid ensures access to life-saving care,” said Stein. “The General Assembly is using people’s health and well-being as bargaining chips in an unrelated budget dispute, and it’s shameful. The legislature must come back to Raleigh and do its job so that the three million North Carolinians who rely on Medicaid can get the care they need.”
