ADAMS COUNTY — The Adams County Justice Center is experiencing multiple facility problems just months after opening in August 2024.
Jail Administrator Michael Doremus said the facility faces several issues including roof leaks, boiler problems and camera malfunctions.
“We addressed issues prior to moving inmates in,” Doremus said. However, when we started to actual utilize the building we started noticing several more."
Construction company cooperative, subcontractors less responsive
Doremus said Beckenhauer Construction of Norfolk oversaw construction of the facility. While the main contractor has been cooperative, subcontractors have been less responsive to repair requests.
“Some of the sub-contractor quit calling us back and returning our phone calls,” Doremus said. They are now
