A man will face court early in 2026 following an investigation into alleged domestic violence (DV) offences in Maitland.

Officers attached to Port Stephens-Hunter Police District were called to a home in Rutherford on Sunday 2 November.

At the scene, they located a woman who had been assaulted by a male known to her.

Police claim the man broke into her residence, damaged her property and threatened her on previous occasions, too.

The Hunter Domestic Violence High-Risk Offender Team (DVHROT) was then notified.

After several enquiries, the DVHROT and Northern Rivers OSG police arrested a 21-year-old in the same suburb about 7.30am on Thursday 6 November.

He was conveyed to Maitland Police Station and charged with eight offences, including stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm
