EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - The Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra is launching a new competition for young composers in hopes of encouraging the creation of innovative new works.
The Young Composers Competition is open to composers ages 18-29 across the United States.
Organizers say the winning composer will receive a $2,000 prize, a professional recording of their work, and the chance to hear their piece performed live.
Submission guidelines include:
Eligibility: Composers aged 18–29, U.S. citizens or residents
Duration: Works up to 10 minutes in length
Instrumentation: Compositions for chamber ensembles of 3–7 instruments drawn from the EP core ensemble: flute, oboe, violin I, violin II, viola, cello, and marimba (additional percussion may be considered).
