DES MOINES, Iowa —

An elementary school in Des Moines was placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon after a report of gunfire nearby.

Des Moines police say callers reported an exchange of gunfire between two parties Thursday in the 1800 block of Clark Street.

King Elementary School was placed on lockdown "out of an abundance of caution," according to police. The department says there is no indication of ongoing danger to this area.

Police are still investigating. No injuries have been reported.
