Apple is planning to pay US$1 billion (roughly C$1.4 billion) for one year for an ultrapowerful 1.2 trillion-parameter artificial intelligence model developed by Alphabet Inc., according to Bloomberg .

People with knowledge of the matter told Bloomberg that Apple will utilize the technology to enhance its personalized Siri. The deal reportedly followed an extensive evaluation period, and the two companies are now finalizing the agreement, which would give Apple access to Google’s technology.

Apple aims to use Google’s AI model to rebuild Siri’s underlying technology, which will help with personalized Siri next year. Previously, Apple considered other third-party models such ChatGPT and Claude, but ultimately chose Google’s AI model.
