New regulations regarding alcoholic beverage have been voted on in Winterville and Oconee County.

On November 4, the Oconee County government held their Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting. The board passed a new piece of legislation that would establish standards on the sale of alcohol. In the city of Winterville, located in Clarke County, a public vote determined new rules for the distribution and sale of alcohol.

Oconee County Board of Commissioners passed a text amendment to make changes to the definition of a “restaurant” in its Alcoholic Beverages Ordinance. Restaurants in Oconee County can now serve alcohol if there’s a suitable space to serve meals for at least 30 customers.

In Winterville, people placed their votes on a liquor referendum. More than 300 people voted yes, pass
